Lyrics and Bras: Kenyan Femcees and Over-sexualization

Sarakasi Dome in Nairobi was full of activity this past Saturday as Radio 254 held an event that attracted a lot of Kenyan talent. The event was headlines by Buruklyn Boyz and the one and only Dyana Cods. The former had a great show, the latter had an amazing experience on stage.

Saturday, August 5 will go down as the days almost 26 people got on stage to “perform” with Dyana Cods of the ever impressive Rong Rende crew. The femcee, who’s been missing for a while, took the stage in a short skirt that attracted a lot of male fans.

According to revelations from Master Wong, who was one of the artists that was at the event, Cods was surrounded by men from all directions. She did, however, not complain at all and saw it as an opportunity to ‘interact’ with her fans.

This is not the first time this has happened. So many femcees have learnt to use their bodies to full advantage. I can name multiple Femcees who are very good at using their body to gain more media attention. The best rappers, modern ones who are female, have learnt the art of spicing up with sub-par bars with a little of missing bras here and there.

Ice Spice, who is thought of as one of the fastest growing femcees in the world, uses her body so well in her music videos and shows. She has landed collaborations with the best in the game. She recently did a joint with Nicki Minaj, which was overtly sexual.

Dyana Cods is a special example in Kenya. The femcee scene has seen a lot of struggle with most female rappers breaking out and failing to keep up. We have had so many exmples of Femcees who drowned after the first track. Dyana Cods has tried to keep up especially with the push from Rong Rende. Her Sarakasi performance is nothing new as it has been happening.

We throw a lot of respect at Femi One for avoiding skimpy dressing but if you look closely at her videos, there’s always some big behind in a tight.

That aside, shout outs to Radio 254 for pulling a massive show that was exclusively Kenyan and with Kenyan talents.
